A middle-aged woman was on Sunday crushed to death, while two others were seriously injured in a lone crash along Igboukwu-Oraifite road in Anambra State.
The crash which occurred in front of St John Catholic Church around 9.15am, involved an ash Toyota Camry with registration number: ENU63AR.
An eye witness said the speeding driver lost control and rammed into three pedestrians at the front of the Church, killing the woman on the spot.
Confirming the incident, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed and loss of control.
He sympathized with the deceased family, warning motoring public to desist from speeding and maintain safe speed limit.
He said, “A fatal Road traffic crash occurred at St John Catholic Church by Igboukwu-Oraifite road, today 26th December, 2021 at about 09:15hrs.
The lone crash involved an Ash Toyota Camry (private) with registration number: ENU63AR.
“10 people comprising 3male adults, 7 female adults) were involved in the crash. One female adult was killed while two female adults were injured.
“The injured vctims were conveyed to Nnewi teaching Hospital where one female adult was confirmed dead by the the doctor on duty. taken to Apex Hospital and his corpse deposited at the hospital morgue.
“The FRSC rescue team on ground managed traffic and ensured obstuction caused was cleared.”
