Sequel to his emergence as the gubernatorial standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the end of the party’s primaries in Ondo State on Wednesday, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede has stated that the end of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has come in the State.
Jegede said this shortly after his victory in the election, maintaining that with the support of the party, as well as that of the co-aspirants, the end of APC in the state come October 20, is achievable.
He stated “by the support of the people of the state, party members and the assistance of co-aspirants, we will take over the government of Ondo state, come October 2020.
“I dedicate this victory to the people of Ondo State and my co-aspirants who have shown great spirit of sportsmanship.”
The former Attorney General of Ondo State, Jegede, had on Wednesday defeated the embattled Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi, in a keenly contested primaries.
Jegede was the PDP candidate in 2016 and lost the 2016 governorship election to the incumbent governor of the state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
With his victory, and as the PDP flag bearer, Jegede will once again be contesting against Akeredolu who is seeking a second term in the October 20, election.
