THE DAILY VENDOR reported earlier that no fewer than 22 houses were swept away by gully erosion at Obeleagu Street and Nkissi Aroli axis in Onitsha Inland Town, Anambra State.
It was learnt that the erosion, occasioned by a heavy rainfall the previous day, reportedly claimed property worth hundreds of millions of naira.
Many residents were said to have sustained injuries as the affected buildings were falling and crashing into the huge gully prompted by the rampaging flood.
Our correspondent who visited the scene said some of the victims were seen trying hard to salvage their belongings while those whose houses were under threat were parking away.
