Residents of Namilama area, Sio location Bungoma south Sub-county Bungoma County, Kenya woke up in shock after the body of a middle aged man was found killed in unclear circumstances and his body dumped in a trench 5KM south west of Bungoma police station.
The man was not identified by area residents. The matter was reported to Bungoma police station by Moses Wanjala the proprietor of Sayona driving school in Bungoma town.
While confirming the incident, Bungoma South police boss Benjamin Kimwele condemned the incident asking residents to cooperate with the police and help in identifying the culprits to ensure that they are brought to book.
The police boss added that the body of the deceased was lying in a trench with head injuries probably as a result of blunt objects.
Kimwele said that no one identified the deceased and no documents recovered that could identify him.
He said it is suspected that the deceased was dumped at the scene after being killed elsewhere as there were no signs of struggles. Kimwele urged members of the public to report any missing person to the nearest police station so that it could aid in identifying the deceased.
“I suspect that this man was killed elsewhere and his body dumped here, police have already started investigating the matter to identify the culprits,” he said.
The body of the deceased was picked by police officers from Bungoma police station and taken to Bungoma county referral mortuary awaiting autopsy.
