Umeh lifts corps members, donates N20m bungalow to Anambra school

Accommodation challenge facing corps members serving in Community High School, Nawgu in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State would soon be history following the donation of a N20million six bedroom bungalow to the school by
Senator Victor Umeh, who represented Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 8th Senate.

The building has six self contained bedrooms, a visitor’s toilet, a kitchen and central parlour.

Handing over the building to the principal of the school, Mrs Leticia Okafor, Umeh’s legislative aide, Mr Olisa Aniekwena said the project was in fulfilment of Umeh’s promise to assist in providing accommodation for corps members in the school.

He said, “It has been Umeh’s desire that all communities in his constituency benefitred from his representation in the Senate and that more would have been provided had he completed a full tenure.”

Traditional ruler of Nawgu, Igwe George Okaa-Onwuogu said finishing the work in record time was a demonstration of Senator Umeh usual thoroughness and “that in whatever he does, he had the welfare of the people at heart”.

He said, ” I remember presenting the accommodation challenge to Senator Umeh when he visited my palace which had become a major problem of corps members posted to the school because their number increases yearly, and he accepted the challenge.

“I’m pleasantly surprised that within few months of work on the project it was already completed.”

The monarch who noted that Umeh was the first politician to cite a tangible project in the community, however regretted that he could not complete a full tenure.

“Yet, he was able to complete an edifice, boasting of every amenity befitting of a modern building”.

Also speaking the principal, Mrs. Okafor thanked Umeh for the gesture, saying the school was appreciative of people who assisted the school.

The occasion was attended Igwe Okaa-Onwuogu, officers of Nawgu Development Union (NDU) led by the Vice President-General Hon. Ifeanyi Ibebugwu, the Principal of the school, officials of Post Primary Education board, Awka zone among others.

The building was commissioned by Igwe Okaa-Onwuogu in conjunction with the principal, officials of the zonal post primary education board, NDU officials together with the legislative aide.
