Following his exemplary leadership cum giant stride achievements since assumption of office as the Acting Chief Medical Director (Ag. CMD) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, Ass. Prof. (Dr.) Joseph Odirichukwu Ugboaja was on Saturday 28th August, 2021 honoured with a prestigious chieftaincy title ‘IFEOMA EJI ÁMÁ ATU of Igbo land’ by a Pan Igbo Socio-cultural Organisation known as ‘Mbido Igbo Association’.
The Association is made of prominent Igbo Traditional Rulers, Custodians and passionate promoters of Igbo culture and tradition both at home and diaspora.
The epoch event took place during the Organisation’s New Yam Festival Celebration (Iri Ji ndị Igbo) at their National Yam House in Etiti village, Igboukwu community of Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State with many prominent sons and daughters of Igbo land in attendance including; over thirty (30) Traditional Rulers, the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Dr. (Mrs) Ngozi Anyanwutaku, the CEO Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma Ifediaso who also was honoured as the Grand Patron of Mbido Igbo Association.
Others include Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (Ogilisi Igbo), the members of the National Gallery of Arts, Nigeria Tourism Development Cooperation as well as National Council of Arts and Culture and other members of Mbido Igbo Association.
Dr. Joseph Ugboaja who was accompanied by members of the management and staff of the hospital including his friends and well-wishers while addressing the Newsmen at the occasion expressed deep appreciation to the members of Mbido Igbo Association for founding him worthy of the prestigious honor.
According to him “the honour is a motivation to do more”. He therefore pledged to double his efforts in delivering result oriented leadership that will provide more practical achievements in the Hospital and in Igbo society at large.
Dr. Ugboaja further paid an endearing cum a glowing tribute to Chief Innocent Chukwuma Ifediaso (CEO Innoson Motors), whom he said facilitated the successful event. He commended all the supports and encouragements from Chief Ifediaso to the hospital management since he assumed office as the Ag. CMD, describing him as a down-to-earth, selfless and compassionate philanthropist who’s always eager to assist the people. “No wonder the collective decision to honor him as the Grand Patron of the Organization”, Ugboaja said.
Also speaking, the Eze Igbo Suleja, HRH Igwe CC Okoli who was present during the occasion eulogized the Ag. CMD for his all inclusive leadership style. “Dr. Ugboaja Joseph is an Illustrious son of Igbo land who has provided an exemplary leadership in the Nigeria’s health sector.
He is indeed a youth with a difference considering his achievements within the eight (8) months in Office as the Ag. Chief Medical Director of NAUTH, Nnewi.
We the Royal fathers have been following him meticulously, taking note of his performance and achievements since assumption of the office and I can authoritatively say that so far, we are convinced that he deserves this chieftaincy honor to spur him for more work.
We chose the prestigious title ‘Ifeoma Eji Ámá Atụ’ for him because we believe that his leadership style worths emulation by other leaders and aspiring leaders in the country.” ~ Igwe CC Okoli said.
Many other Royal fathers present at the occasion prayed for more of God’s guidance, protection and wisdom on Dr Ugboaja.
The highlight of the occasion includes conferment of chieftaincy titles, Roya dance to uvie music, wrestling (Igba ngba), unveiling the statue of Chief Innocent Chukwuma MFR as well as Iwa Ji (new yam celebration) and others.
