Two mentally challenged rescued in Anambra, sent to rehabilitation center

Two mentally challenged men have been rescued in Awka, Anambra State capital by a team led by the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue.

The victims were rescued at Club street (formerly Abakaliki Street) and Aroma Bridge respectively during an operation within the streets of Awka, Amawbia and Enugu Agidi, in search of mentally challenged individuals loitering the streets of the capital city as directed by the Governor Chief Willie Obiano, to clear the streets of Anambra of mentally challenged persons.

The DAILY VENDOR gathered that they were subsequently relocated to Nteje Home for the mentally challenged
in Oyi Local Government Area of the state where they will be rehabilitated by team of psychiatrists at the facility line with international best practices before they will be reunited with their families.
