A junior Indian soldier is being martyred in a clash between the Indian Army and militants in Kashmir on Thursday morning. One militant was also neutralized by the Indian forces.
The incident took place in Thanamandi belt of Rajouri district of state of Kashmir. Indian Army have clashed with militants twice this month.
On August 8, the army killed two militants in an encounter at Thanamandi. The identity of the slain militant is yet to be made public however, it is certain that they had entered Indian territory through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Last week, Jammu & Kashmir Police expressed concern that many militant training camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir had been reactivated. The security forces have also confirmed that trained militants were gathering at launch pads rather than entering the Indian territory and the fear came true.
News of the militants’ movements in the Indian territory reached the police. The Indian army and J & K police force started a joint search operation and when the militants started firing from their hideout, the joint forces also fired back.
A public relations officer of Defense has confirmed to The Daily Vendor Newspaper correspondent that a junior army officer was seriously injured in the crossfire.
According to the Defense spokesperson, the injured soldier was serving in the State Rifles. The officer was taken to the local health center where he was later confirmed died.
The Daily Vendor gathered that one militant was also killed in the shootout.
The District Police authority disclosed to the media that, ‘Search operations are continuing around the area.
According to sources, several militants are still hiding in the Thanamandi belt. They entered Rajouri district through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Our correspondent learnt that the Indian Army and the state police forces are ready to hit back.
