Two injured as tipper, truck collide

Two persons sustained varying degrees of injury in a motor accident near Lake Junction, opposite Trans- Alina Motors Nig. Ltd. along Onitsha-Awka express way.

The accident which occurred around 11am involved a Blue/ black M/ Benz 911 Tipper and a red M /Benz Truck.

The Ag. Sector Public Education Officer,
Federal Road Safety Corps, Kamal Musa confirmed the incident.

He said, “At about 1100hrs today 18th August 2020 , a serious crash involving a Blue/ black M/ Benz 911 Tipper with enlistment number AKA 469 ZD driven by  one Mr. Peter Ifedika and a red M /Benz Truck without a registration number was recorded near Lake Junction, opposite Trans- Alina Motors Nig. Ltd. along Onitsha-Awka express way.

“According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred as a result of Break Failure  from the 911 Tipper leading to loss of control of the Tipper Driver thereby crashing into a truck that was coming out of the company’s premises.

“Four Male Adults were involved while ( 2)Male adults sustained varying degrees of injuries and were  rushed  to Mult- care Hospital at Lake Omoba for medical attention. FRSC rescue team from Upper Iweka are on ground to ensure free flow of traffic while the road obstruction is being cleared.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, *CC Andrew A. Kumapayi* while wishing the injured victims an accelerated recovery warns motorists especially Tipper operators to do a proper inspection and ensure their vehicles meet the required minimum safety standards before putting them on the highway as Road Traffic Crashes are avoidable.”
