An fatal accident between a white Mercedes Benz 608 and a Shacman trailer which happened on Thursday morning has claimed the life of one of the victims.
The Public Education Officer of the Anambra State Sector of FRSC, Florence N. Edor revealed this in a press release.
She said that the fatal accident happened at about 8.55am by Ndikpo village, opposite Ken Maduako filling station Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area.
Edor said that eyewitness report indicated that the crash was caused by over speeding and loss of control which led to head-on collision.
“Two male adults were involved in the crash. The driver of the Mercedes Benz 608 was rushed to hospital by the Nigeria Police team from Uli and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and his body deposited at Ark Angels Mortuary Uli before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Command. While the driver of the Shacman trailer has been handed over to Uli divisional police station.
“Rescue team from Ihiala Command are on ground managing the traffic which has been diverted from Owerri – Onitsha lane to Onitsha- Owerri lane due to obstructuction caused by the crashed Vehicles, along Owerri- Onitsha lane. Effort are being put in place to remove the bus which completely blocked the road.” She said.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander Anambra State, Adeoye Irelewuyi(CC) has sent his condolence to the deasesed family.
He warned motorist to avoid over speeding, which usually leads to traffic accidents.
