…As traders move to withdraw lawsuits against govt. Ngonadi
Traders in various markets across Anambra State have lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for taking over the Ministry of Trade and Commerce from the hands of Dr. Obinna Ngonadi who is now the Commissioner for Industry.
Ngonadi was formerly Commissioner in charge of Ministry for Trade and Commerce.
The traders also commended Soludo for having listening ears to their cries.
Speaking on behalf of the traders, Chief Ben Uzuegbu (SAN), counsel to Ndubuisi Ochiogu, who instituted a case at Ogbaru High Court against his removal as the elected Chairman of Ogbaru Main Market without the completion of his tenure in office said Soludo has demonstrated through his action that he has his ears on the ground.
He said he has filed a notice of discontinuance of the case between his client and Dr. Obinna Ngonadi in court because they are happy with the Governor’s action.
Chief Uzuegbu also said that he is optimistic that since the Governor has started addressing the numerous troubles created in Anambra markets by Ngonadi, he would complete what he has started.
On his own part, Chief Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu, President General, Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders (ASMATAS), an umbrella body of all markets in Anambra State praised the Governor for doing the needful to nip in the bud the commissioner’s atrocities in Anambra markets.
He instructed all those that instituted Court cases against the Governent to withdraw them because they have nothing against the Governor but Dr Obinna Ngonadi.
The PG of ASMATA also said that after the removal of Dr. Obinna Ngonadi from Anambra State Ministry of Trade and Commerce who fraudulently extended the tenure of some Caretaker Committees in Anambra State markets, Ekwegbalu pleaded with the Governor to do something about it.
He pledged the continuous support and loyalty of entire traders to Governor Soludo’s administration.
The matter which could not hold last Friday November 11, 2022, because of the absence of the Judge, Justice Alexius Okuma, has been adjourned to November 30, 2022, for the withdrawal of the matter.
