Woman crushed, others injured as container-laden truck falls in Anambra

By: Awesome Ekene A middle aged woman was on Thursday night crushed to death by a container of an articulated vehicle along Awka-Enugu express way in Anambra State. Five persons reportedly sustained varying degrees of injury in the fatal crash which occurred at Amansea junction by Hausa market. The victims were said to be inside a commercial bus heading towards Awka when the incident happened. According to an eyewitness, the truck driver was carrying container heading to Enugu while the bus driver was heading towards Awka. "Due to the bad road, the truck was not stable and the container fell on the bus and crashed, killing the woman and injuring several others," he said. 12 killed as trailer crushes students, others in Ondo

Twelve persons have been confirmed dead while search continues for others in an accident that occurred near the entrance gate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area Ondo State. The accident was said to have occurred when a truck coming from Obajana in Kogi State lost control and rammed into some shops and crushed both students and traders. Ten feared killed in trailer accident in Zamfara

A fatal accident along Kasuwar Daji-Gusau road in Zamfara State has claimed no fewer than ten lives. THE DAILY VENDOR reports that the crash, which happened on Saturday night, left about 45 persons with various degrees of injuries. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mohammed Shehu who confirmed the incidence, said the accident involved a “trailer vehicle”. The Federal Road Safety Corps said three persons were crushed to death on Saturday while seven others were injured by a trailer along Gwagwalada-Kwali Road in Abuja. Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem, said the accident occurred at about 08:50 a.m at Wazobia Park. Trailer Loaded with Cows Crushes 17 Persons, Injures 14 Others

No fewer than 17 persons were killed in an accident on Mai’adua-Shargalle Road in Mashi Local Government Area of Katsina State. This is according to a statement issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, on Monday. Isah said the accident, which involved an articulated vehicle with registration number XE 611 KTN, occurred at Yardudu Village in Mashi LGA. As early as 5:00 a.m. yesterday, there was a traffic advisory that warned motorists about the logjam on Lagos-Ibadan expressway. If anyone thought it would abate as the day wore on after the early morning rush, it was a mistaken one as the traffic snarl continued to stretch longer both for those leaving Lagos at Berger and more especially for those coming into Lagos from Mowe, Ibafo end.
