Flood wreaks havoc in Lagos communities

Residents and commuters around the Oko Oba, Ekoro, Akowonjo and Egbeda areas of Lagos State, were on Sunday grounded for hours after floods took over the communities. It was gathered that the floods, which resulted from a downpour around 1.20pm on Sunday, led to gridlock in the communities. Eyewitness account claimed that the floods stopped residents from going about their daily activities as many stayed indoors. About thirty vehicles are said to be damaged by the rampaging flood. The South-West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed the incident. Houses, vehicles damaged as flash floods hit Lagos

Several houses and vehicles were on Sunday damaged following a heavy downpour in Lagos State. According to the National Emergency Management Agency, a flash flood which was caused by the downpour damaged houses and vehicles in some parts of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State. NEMA also advised residents and motorists in the area to exercise utmost caution as some electric poles fell due to the downpour. The Acting Zonal Coordinator, South-West Zonal Office, NEMA, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, gave the advice in a statement he issued in Lagos.
