The Peoples Democratic Party’s Candidate, Aminu Tambuwal has been affirmed as the duly elected Governor of Sokoto State by the seven-man panel.
In an unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, the apex court dismissed the appeal of Ahmed Aliyu of All Progressive Congress.
Aliyu had challenged the victory of Tambuwal at the polls.
The case was dismissed on the ground that the appellant failed to prove his allegation of non-compliance with the electoral act and issues of over-voting.
The ealier judgement of the Election Petition Tribunal and Appeal Court in Sokoto had upheld Tambuwal’s victory.
