Stay-at-home palliative: Remove charges on transfers below N5000, Chidoka tells CBN

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to work with banks to urgently remove charges on transfers below N5000 to deepen the cashless policy.

Chidoka made the call on his Twitter handle on Tuesday. He said that removing the bank charges will further encourage those willing to give palliatives to the vulnerable to do so without defying the social distancing order.

He tweeted: Another two weeks of Lockdown.

@cenbank can you work with the banks to remove charges for all transfer under #5000 to enable cashless transactions?

Covid-19 has provided a great opportunity to deepen & widen cashless policy. Also it will encourage giving to help the vulnerable.
