Southampton goal tender, Bazunu described as a Spiderman

Southampton goalkeeper, Gavin Bazunu has been described as a ‘Spiderman’.

Former West Ham United star, Dean Ashton made comment following Bazunu’s performance against Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The former Manchester City youngster kept Bruno Fernandes’ effort out from point-blank range and the Portuguese made another effort that was blocked by Kyle Walker-Peters, before Christian Eriksen forced the Southampton defence into action for a third time, only to be blocked by Armel Bella-Kotchap.

The defensive play by the Saints earned them a standing ovation from the home fans at St Mary’s Stadium.

Ashton compared Bazunu to a member of the Marvel franchise.

He said, “Gavin ‘Spiderman’ Bazunu’, incredible, he blocks one, two, Eriksen should score. When it comes back to him he just needs to pick a spot.

“It’s just brilliant all round defensively there, throwing bodies in the way.”

Eventually, Fernandes struck home a fine goal from a Diogo Dalot cross in the second half to give the Red Devils a second win in a row.
