Soludo’s youth appointments’ll end old politicians’ recycling – Ohaneze

Vice President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke- Ogene has expressed satisfaction with the approach of Anambra State Governor, Prof  Chukwuma Soludo to political appointments and commitment to due process.

He said Soludo’s ‘political mentorship’ for the youth through appointments has revolutionised the system of government and mentorship in the state.

Addressing newsmen in Awka, the Igbo leader argued that the policy of appointing youths to political positions will no doubt end the era of recycling old leaders and denying upcoming generation opportunities to master governance.

He said, “If well tutored and mentored, the youths will be properly equipped with wealth of experience that will enable them to effectively and efficiently take over future leadership of the country.

“This will inculcate the needed discipline and basic principles of selfless service in them as well as the need to entrench merit and due process in the system.”

Okeke- Ogene however urged those appointed to various positions to justify the confidence reposed in them by being dedicated and hardworking to learn from the wealth of experience of the governor to inspire other youths.

Similarly, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Mike Omenugha had said the appointment of the youth into positions of responsibility would help to build their self-confidence in administration and enable them to become role models.

He called on other South-East Governors to emulate the Soludo approach to governance and to effectively harness the potential of youth to build a better future for the region as well as bring permanent solution to the challenge of youth’s restiveness.

No fewer than 21 ‘young persons’ were recently appointed transition committee chairmen in the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
