Soludo reopens Onitsha school shut over injured pupil, closes another operating illegally

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has approved the reopening of the Blessed Wisdom School, 26 Ide Drive Federal Housing Estate 3-3  Onitsha.

The school’s approval was earlier withdrawn following reported case of  irreverence attitude to human life resulting to grievous bodily injury sustained by a two year old pupil, EGBUNIWE DAVIDA IFECHUKWU.

The school was also shut over refusal of the Proprietress to honour invitations from the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh to explain what happened.

Speaking to the press on the development, Chuma-Udeh hinted that officials of the Anambra State Joint Enforcement Team have been directed to reopen the school.

In a letter conveying the approval which was released today 8/9/23, by the Commissioner and signed by Mrs Ifeoma Agbaizu, Director of Schools for Education, Chuma-Udeh said the approval followed consideration of the letter of apology written to the State by the Proprietress of the school.

The letter however stated that another Blessed Wisdom Model School which the same Proprietress operates illegally at 21 Barr. Ubah Street, Maryland Estate Nkwelle Ezunaka, shall remain closed pending commencement of necessary processes for regularization and payment of prescribed fine to the State Government for operating illegally.
