The Nigeria Policy Institute, USA (NPI-USA), a non-partisan organisation on Wednesday disclosed its preparedness to financially and technologically support infrastructural projects of Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.
Executive Director, Chief Jimmy Asiegbu who stated this in Awka in a press briefing also assured the group’s contribution to progressive changes needed for effective and productive governance of the state and Nigeria.
He praised Soludo’s approach to prevalent insecurity situation, including cultism, kidnapping, killings, drug abuse, among others, stressing that he has undeniably demonstrated he was equal to the task of fulfilling his campaign promises to the citizenry.
He also commended the Governor for cleaning up Okpoko, Awka, Onitsha and environs, as well as closing tax loopholes and revenue misappropriation in the state.
He said, “Those campaign promises include turning Anambra into a livable environment, tackling infrastructural decays, road construction, flood and erosion related problems across the state.
“Despite the meager money in the treasury and from the federal allocations, the Governor has embarked on these infrastructural project. There is no question that these projects cost money.
“It is a welcome development that Anambra indigenes in the diaspora are pitching to support Soludo’s projects, and we urge other indigenes living abroad to emulate this gesture.
“Consequently, we appeal to Governor Soludo to work with the Diaspora indigenes of the state to assist his government financially, technologically and otherwise by setting up accounts where we can donate our widow’s mite.
“We also urge the Governor to surround himself with good advisers who will tell him the truth and suggest the best approach to solving the problems of the state.
“NPI-USA has confidence that Soludo will work on exceeding the performance of your predecessors and make Anambra the Dubai of Africa as he has severally promised.
While calling for progressive steps targeted at attracting local and foreign businesses particularly for job creation for unemployed youths, Asiegbu enjoined residents to accord Soludo necessary support to ensure he succeeded.
