Anambra State Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo has expressed his willingness to continue to support the State Fire Service in fighting fire in the state.
Soludo gave the assurance while presenting firefighting equipment to the organization.
He said the provision of the equipment was necessary to ensure the safety of firefighters and assure effective and prompt service delivery.
“As government of the day wants the firefighters to minimize destruction caused by fire outbreaks, there is need to provide them with PPE and equipment to ensure the safety of firefighters and assure effective and prompt service delivery respectively,” he said.
While receiving these fire fighting equipment, State Fire Chief Engr Martin Agbili assured his officers’ readiness to fight any fire with the provision of the equipment.
He said, “Today 28-04-2023, I received on behalf of Anambra State Fire Service, the delivery of firefighting equipment which was procured by Mr. Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR.
“I wish to use this medium to commend and thank Mr. Governor for seeing the need and approving the procurement of these firefighting equipment which will ensure proper safety and protection of Firefighters.
“With the provision of these PPE and fire fighting equipment, firefighters will be ready to move in to fight any fire.
“I wish also to appreciate my Commissioner for his style of leadership and for all his efforts in making sure that these equipment were procured as directed by Mr. Governor.”
Present at the function were Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, DG Anambra Strategy, Execution and Evaluation (SEE), Chief Emmanuel Onyilofor, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power and Water Resources, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Uzoka, Supplier/Contractor of the equipment, BOCHEZ Partners Ltd. and officials of Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP).
