Report coming from Ibadan, the Oyo state capital has it that six youths were allegedly killed in a rival gang war between the youths of Inalende, Abebi and Oopo area of the capital city on Thursday.
It was gathered that two people were allegedly killed earlier on Wednesday in Iwo-road.
The Iwo-road incident occured when some shop owners and members of the Park Management System (PMS) engaged in a free for all fight.
It was however learnt that the clash started on Wednesday 16th when the youths from Inalende killed two people in Oopo with the support of some youths from Abebi.
Acoording to a source in the area who gave the names of the first two victims as Transformer and Ishaja, the two youths were killed on Thursday while four others yet to get their identities were killed at midnight Thursday/Friday.
It was learnt that the crisis is the usual clashes between the youths in the affected areas. The three streets are close areas in the heart of Ibadan, the state capital.
The source said the youths are still in the area vowing to retaliate killing of their members despite the heavy presence of the security agencies in the areas.
In what looked like a reprisal, sources informed that four boys were killed before Friday morning.
According to him, “I am confirming it. I don’t want you to mention my name. The two boys were down on Thursday while another four were killed overnight as I speak to you. Police and NSCDC are here to maintain peace but those guys are still threatening to retaliate. I wish the police can still reinforce to our area to ensure more lives are not lost.”
All efforts to get Police reaction proved abortive as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Oyo Command, Adewale Osifeso did not pick his calls since yesterday.
