Sit-at-home: IPOB confirms arrest of enforcers, as Anambra residents defy Ekpa’s 5-day order

…IPOB says the arrest followed a directive by the group’s leadership

Residents of Anambra State on Friday shunned the 5-day sit-at-home order declared by a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), loyal to Simon Ekpa.

There was zero compliance to the order as people went about their normal business activities across all parts of the State, including Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and Ekwulobia.

Markets, banks, schools and other public institutions were all open for business, while human and vehicular movements were recorded across the state.

There was however alleged abduction at Oriagu market in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the State during a stampe in the area.

A source said the stampede followed sporadic shooting in the market which made residents scamper for safety, resulting to the stampede.

The Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, when contacted, however said he was not aware of the incident.

“No such report before me,” he simply replied.

Meanwhile, Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) said it arrested those placing posters regarding sit at home order from the recruited bandits in Southeast.

IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful who disclosed this to our correspondent, said the arrest followed directive by the group’s leadership not just to nab, but eliminate anyone enforcing the fake sit-at-home order.

He was however silent over the number of persons so far arrested and the locations, but said the number of arrested persons were still counting.

Expressing joy that the fake sit-at-home was not observed anywhere in the Southeast, Powerful was also excited that people of the zone were becoming aware of their rights and tricks of their enemies.

He said, “Yes, the IPOB leadership the DOS gave order that anybody enforcing this fake sit at home order should be arrested and not just arrested but eliminate the person, we arrested those placing posters regarding sit at home order from the recruited bandits in our land.

“The number is still counting; as of now we cannot give accurate number arrested but I am sure anybody trying to enforce sit-at-home order will be arrested.

“We are very happy that our people are getting it right and who is who in Biafraland. No sit-at-home anywhere in Biafraland, we have shown them that they are nobody in this agitation.”
