Seven Persons Escape Death In Anambra Simultaneous Road Crash

About seven road users escaped death by the whisker on Friday, July 24, in two simultaneous road accidents which happened in Awka and Onitsha towns, both in Anambra State.

According to Sector Public Education Officer, FRSC, Anambra State Command, RC Pascal Anigbo, that which happened in Awka involved a Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration number FGG450DS, driven by one Jude Owunba, and a Suzuki Shuttle bus with enlistment number UMD196XA, around Unizik Junction, along Awka-Onitsha expressway.

Eyewitnesses said the driver of the Toyota Corolla was on top speed when it rammed into the shuttle bus.

A total of 6 male adults were involved in the crash. One sustained some degree of injuries but no death was recorded. The injured victim was rushed to an undisclosed hospital by sympathizers before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team.

Onitsha Accident

That of Onitsha involved a white coloured Mercedes Benz 911, with registration number ASB283ZH, also with an inscription that reads, “DO GOOD”,  which knocked down a woman who was crossing the expressway from Chisco Park to Relief Market, at Upper Iweka, Onitsha.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman was already at the center of the road when she was ordered to go back by some group of boys, suspected to be touts.

It was on her way back that she was knocked down by the moving truck.

The injured woman was rushed to Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, by a good samaritan, while the suspected touts were apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Okpoko.
