The news of a fatal accident has been reported at Haridwar district, a southwestern part of Uttarakhand state of India.
Reports available to The Daily Vendor Newspaper reveal that the accident which claimed the life of a young man was caused by distractions resulting from Selfie picture taking.
The Daily Vendor learnt that the five friends went to Kaliyar Sharif to visit Ziyarat.
When the hobby of selfie becomes a passion, then it does not take long for one to get into trouble. The craze for taking selfies is dominating people so much that they are becoming the reason for their own death. The same thing happened with the five youths. Those young men had gone to visit a place named Kaliyar Sharif with their other relatives, our correspondent said.
As the resting place of a Sufi saint, the Piran Kaliyar Sharif Dargah is held in deep regard and faith among people of different religions. Located close to Haridwar, in the Kaliyari village, the dargah is the tomb of Alauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir.
To visit Kaliyar Sharif, a deep canal need to be crossed. So after reaching the canal, the youths decided to take quick selfies on the it. During this time, one Mohammad Shahnawaz slipped and fell into the canal. His other friends -Kashif, Shabu, Ayan, Haider jumped into the canal to save him but failed.
Later, the four friends were rescued by their relatives with the help of a diver but one of them died.
While divers helped to save four of the five, a young man Ayan was not lucky as he was not traceable, but later, Ayan’s dead body was recovered from the canal after about half an hour of hard searching.
At the same time, the untimely death of the young son caused deep sadness in the family. Ayan was from a place called Sahanpur and when his body reached, there was a wave of mourning in the town.
