Rs1.5m Deducted, 28 DHQ Hospital Ghost Staff Identified

…21 ghost employees including nurses, paramedical staff and doctors relieved

PAKISTAN: Medical Superintendent(MS) of district headquarters hospital on Monday said that they have taken action against ghost health employees and deducted million rupees from the absent staff in the past three months. 

Flanked by Deputy Medical Superintendent(DMS) doctor Inayat Shinwari and other health staff Medical Superintendent of district heaquarters hospital doctor Jamshid Sherani was briefing the mediamen here in Landikotal said that more than fifty hospital staff members were absent from their duties for long time. He said a number of former health staff and outsiders had occupied the official residences built inside the hospital.

Sherani said around 110 doctors and 130 male and female nurses were deriving salaries from the DHQ hospital but most them remained absent from the hospital.

Dr Sherani said that Shabir, doctor Muddasir and doctor Rabel were charged due to long absenteeism.

He said salaries of the absent health staff had been stopped and reported to them to Directorate General(DG)health and health ministry. 

The Medical Superintendent said he was committed to bring visible reforms in the staff performance which would directly benefit patients. He said those who failed to perform their duties honestly were against him and not cooperate with the hospital administration.

“I transferred few doctors and other staff members due to their poor attendence and due to irrigularities but within few days they approached to uper authorities and  reposted them in the hospital”, Dr Sherani said.

MS Landikotal hosputal alleged that  some of the doctors were on sick leaves but they found  running private clinics nearby the hospital in Landikotal. 

He said 21 ghost employees including nurses, paramedical staff and doctors were relieved last months. He added that salaries of 28 other health staff had been stopped.

Dr Sherani said in the past three months they have deducted 1.5 million rupees from the absent health add non-health staff. He said cases of a number of other serious violations had been prepared and soon it would tabled to high ups for departmental action. 

To a question doctor Sherani said they have provided 1000 free dengue tests kits to patients in the past few months. He said people would witness more change in the hospital performance in the coming months. 

“I am going to launch crackdown against those who illegally occupied the officials residences in the hospital”, dr Jamshid Sherani said. He added that they had to work for more as they were planning to adopt zero tolerance against irrigularities and those involve in corruption in the hospital.
