Robbers attack lady, others with bottles, cart away cash, phones


A two-man robbery syndicate operating on Keke tricycle at Okpuno Awka, Anambra State have been arrested by the Police.

The Police Public Relations Officer Haruna Mohammed said one the suspects, Christian Nwalieji was arrested in conjunction with local vigilante group.

He said, “On the 1/11/2020,there was a distress call by one Ifejika Ogechi ‘f’ and Cheta Geofrey ‘m’ that while returning from work, they were attacked with bottles and dispossessed of their phones,cash sum of #9000 by a two man robbery syndicate operating on Keke tricycle at Okpuno Awka.

“Following the distress call, Police operatives attached to B’ division Awka in conjunction with local vigilante group arrested one Christian Nwalieji ‘m’ aged 29years of Umuawa Ifite Ogwari in Ayamelum LGA but resides at City Supermarket Area Okpuno.

“Suspect confessed to the crime and is assisting the police to arrest other accomplices in order to bring them to book.

“Meanwhile, one Keke tricycle with registration number Anambra ZBL-121-VC used in committing the act was recovered as exhibit.

“The Commissioner of Police, John Abang warns criminals in the State to jettison crime or relocate before the long arm of the law catch up with them.”
