The Federal Government has approved refund of 477 billion Naira to twenty five states that constructed federal roads.
Minister of State for Works, Engineer Abubakar Aliyu disclosed this while on a visit to Kebbi State to ascertain the number of federal roads constructed by the state government.
He added that the Federal Government had earlier refunded 143 billion Naira to five states that constructed federal roads in their respective states.
“The Federal Government will give them permission and they will be reimbursed later. Before 2016 or there about, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) set up a committee to verify and clear road construction executed by some state governments” he noted.
Aliyu said the committee headed by the Minister of Works and Transport, Babatunde Raji Fashola was able to clear and verify twenty five states that built federal government roads in their respective states.
One of the roads visited by the Minister was Koko- Mahut- Dabai federal road which was constructed by Kebbi State government in 2006.
Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu while receiving the Minister commended Federal Government for approving the refunds to states.
Gov Bagudu said the visit by the Federal Government team to assess the roads for reimbursement is a welcomed development.
