Over the weekend, the son of Nigeria’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), Abdulaziz Malami got married to Khadija Danbatta in Kano.
SaharaReporters on Saturday revealed there were not just defiance on coronavirus guidelines and breach of the laid down protocols of the NCDC but also violated the stipulated number of persons approved to attend a social event at this time by the Nigerian Government.
The government’s rule says social events of more than 20 persons were prohibited at this time in order to help curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
However, pictures and videos of the wedding obtained by the DAILY VENDOR, shows that not only was guests at the ceremony, which took place inside the Government House in Kano State, more than 20, many of them did not wear face masks to protect themselves and others from contracting coronavirus.
According to SaharaReporters, former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, former Zamfara State governor, Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, incumbent governor of Sokoto and Zamfara states, Aminu Tambuwal and Bello Muhammad Matawalle, were among personalities at the occasion.
Also, a former Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Goni Ali Modu, House of Representatives Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Minister of Power, Engr Sale Mamman, and Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kolo Kyari, are among other dignitaries present at the wedding inside the Kano State Government House.

On Friday, Malami ordered the EFCC to hand over all high profile corruption cases to his office.
SaharaReporters gathered that the wedding ceremony turned out to be a nightmare for motorists and commuters in Kano, one of the busiest cities in Northern Nigeria, who woke up to the sight of armed security personnel barricading roads in key locations within the metropolis.
SaharaReporters also claimed that the wedding ceremony will further move to Birnin Kebbi, on Sunday (today), where an ‘exclusive’ dinner party will be staged by the AGF for top guests.
The celebration may also continue on Monday with two special ceremony on plan, including a Walima (Muslim ceremony where other women in a family welcomes a new bride).
Sources told SaharaReporters that since being appointed into the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2015, Malami, a previously little known lawyer, had in a short while acquired many choice properties.
He also has often been accused of abusing his position in Buhari’s cabinet.
