A robbery suspect has been cursed by a Chief Priest in Abor village, Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state for allegedly stealing the sacrificial head of a ram owned by Udo deity buried at Iba Okaka Shrine in the area.
The suspect reportedly stormed the shrine premises and exhumed the ram head to secure his protection and power.
The Chief Priest, Nnamdi Anaeze Ezegbo disclosed this to newsmen while
performing sacrificial offer of goat to water spirits (mmuo Ndi mmiri) to enable the spirits stop submerging the shrine premises with flood even when there is no rainfall.
He said he had advised the suspect to return the ram head to avoid incuring the wrath of the deity, including curses and death.
He said, “Last time I slaughtered a ram to appease the gods to ward off all evils here and the head was buried in the ground as demanded by the Udo deity while some other parts were cooked and shared among those that were present including a suspected theif notorious in the community.
“On the night of the fateful day when we had all left, the suspected thief stormed the shrine premises and exhumed the ram head which he stole for protection and power, knowing the efficacy of the Udo deity.
“I have advised him to return the ram head to avoid incuring the wrath of the deity which includes curses and death.
“Even if what he collected is chaff as it did not go with the deity’s blessing but the fact remains that he wants to try the deity but
forgot that he ate the ram when it was served him earlier
“This place has so many gods under the Udo and the water spirit gives birth to barren women, protects people from being killed so long your hands are clean and you will not lack money and don’t disposses people of their possessions.
“Somebody has pledged to put up a storey building here for the deity and if he does it the deity will live upstairs and I as chief prist will live downstairs.”
