Respect your host communities’ culture – Soludo urges corps members

Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has assured corps members posted to the state of adequate plans and welfare for them in course of their national service.

He also assured them of the hospital disposition of people of the state who are waiting to integrate them into their fold. 

Soludo spoke at the closing ceremony of 2023 Batch A stream 2 corps members at the Umuawulu/Mbaukwu Orientation camp.

The governor who was represented by His Chief of Staff Ernest Ezeajughi, urged the corps members respect the culture of your host communities and be ready to contribute your quota towards their Developmental Agenda.

He said, “In Anambra State, we have a tradition of rewarding hard work at the end of the service in form of different Awards and the process for the selection starts right from the camp.

“The success story we are seeing today could not have been possible without the team spirit exhibited by the Camp Officials and I want to thank you immensely for the synergy.”

Earlier, State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Mrs Blessing Iruma urge corps members to endeavour to put the lessons learnt from the trainings into practice in their different places of primary assignments. 

She also charged to be good ambassadors of the scheme and your respective families as officials from the State and Area offices would be visiting them at intervals to ascertain their rate of adjustment and integration into their host communities.

She said, “My beloved Corps Members, in a few days time – precisely on 22nd May 2023, NYSC will clock 50. This historical event tagged ‘NYSC@50 Celebration’ which incidentally coincided with the dawn of your service year, has distinguished your Batch as a special ‘Golden Age Corps Members’. 

“I therefore urge you to endeavour to put the lessons learnt from the trainings into practice in your different places of primary assignments. 

“I also charge you to integrate and impact positively on your host communities. Your predecessors made huge contributions to National Unity, Integration and Development in the last Five Decades. 

“As ‘Golden Age Corps Members’, this is your time to go beyond the ordinary. Think creatively and do something better.  

“Please note that at intervals NYSC Officers from the State, and Area offices will be visiting you on inspection to ascertain your rate of adjustment and integration into your host communities, so endeavour to be good ambassadors of the NYSC and your respective families.
