Reps member, Chidoka intervenes in Police, driver brawl in Anambra

The Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obinna Chidoka, on Sunday waded into an altercation between a group of Policemen and a driver of a shuttle bus along St. Peters Church Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state.

The Police officers, reportedly on election duties were said to be traveling to Ondo State when the driver allegedly splashed water on them along the road.

An eye witness said the officers suddenly stopped, alighted from the vehicle and pounced on the driver.

“The driver apologized to the officers that it was not deliberate. He even went further to kneel down, holding one of the officers, yet all to no avail,” he said.

The witness however said it was the intervention of the Reps member who was passing through the scene that made them stop beating the driver.

“They were beating the driver when Chidoka stopped and approached them, insisting they should stop the molestation,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident.

He however said normalcy had been restored to the area.

He said, “Some Police men from Imo State on transit to Ondo for election duties had an altercation with a shuttle bus driver who allegedly splashed sachet water on them along ST. Peters Church Obosi.

“Following the incident, Hon Obinna Chidoka who was at the scene intervened and resolved the matter amicably.”

“Meanwhile, the area is calm and people are going about their lawful businesses.”
