Rep Chidoka intervenes as protest rocks Obosi community over killing of 16 youths

…calls for urgent deployment of security agencies in Obosi

Business activities was momentarily paralyzed and motorists stranded in the commercial city of Obosi in Idemili North Local Goverment Area of Anambra State on Thursday as youths protest the killing of sixteen young men.

It takes efforts of the lawmaker representing Idemili North and South Local Goverment Areas in the green chamber of the National Assembly, Hon Obinna Chidoka to calm the fray nerves.

Hon Chidoka however said that there is urgent need for presence of security agencies to be felt in the commercial town.

“This senseless killings must stop in Obosi, I am happy that the director of DSS, Police and others are here, they should please take our message to their superiors in Awka and Abuja. We want to feel the presence of security agencies in this town.

“The Army barrack is in this town, the only police station here has been burnt, we are ready to support the security agencies to establish their offices in Obosi. We can not continue to watch as our youths are being targeted for destruction.” Hon Chidoka asserted.

The lawmaker assured that he would move a motion on the floor of the House of Representatives to ensure that security posts are set in the commercial town.

The chairman of Obosi Youths, Mr Tochukwu Obienu in his own speech appealed to the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo and the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari to look into the security breach in Obosi.

Obienu who thanked the lawmaker for his intervention said that many women have been forced to early widowhood, no thanks to untimely killing of their husbands while many children according to him have become fatherless.

The Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo who addressed the protesting youths through a telephone call by Hon. Chidoka assured that his administration would bring solution to the security challenges in the town.

Gov Soludo said that he would not leave any stone unturned to ensure security of lives and properties in the commercial town.

He however appealed to the youths to maintain the peace.
