Qatar Charity Distributes Artificial Limbs among 60 in Khyber

PESHAWAR: The project was implemented by local partner Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotics (PIPOS) and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (Government Authority).

The tri-Partite MOU between Qatar Charity, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and PIPOS, artificial limbs distribution was conducted in two phases. In first phase, 200 beneficiaries were benefitted in Swat whereas in second phase, 60 beneficiaries were directly benefitted from these interventions in Khyber district.

The primary objective of this project was to provide artificial limbs to the people of disabilities either they lost their body parts from terrorism activities or improvised explosive device (IED) blasts and accidents. Qatar Charity funded this project whereas Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and PIPOS implemented in District Swat and District Khyber.

Closing ceremony of the project at Peshawar was held where field Coordinator of Qatar Charity Sajjad Khan chaired.He said they were delighted that after the provision of artificial limbs now PWDs were not dependent and could walk like normal person. He said Qatar Charity was in close contact with the government departments in supporting communities of district Khyber in different projects interventions.
“I am pleased to mention that we are going to expand our projects interventions in district Khyber for longer term projects. I am very thankful to the donor who financially supported to make a major change especially in the lives of PWDs”,said Sajjad.

Provincial Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lal Badshah thanked Qatar Charity for considering the interventions for the most vulnerable segments of the society.

He said Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal was the government department that had initiated several projects for deprived communities. He said they would provide full support to Qatar Charity as and when required.

Dr.Javed Ghani, Head of Pakistan Institute of prosthetic and Orthotics (PIPOS) acknowledged the support of Qatar Charity and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and said PIPOS has technical trained medical staff and manufacture the artificial limbs according to the size and need of PWDs. He said they request QC for continuity of this support for future projects in KP.

Professor Dr. Ayaz Khan, Chairman Board of Director Pakistan Institute of prosthetic and Orthotics (PIPOS) acknowledged support of Qatar Charity and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal. He appreciated Qatar Charity efforts for extending financial support which enabled PIPOS to ensure provision of artificial limbs to the most neglected individuals.
