Police parade 40 suspected Indian hemp traffickers, thieves, others in Onitsha

Fourty suspects have been arrested in Onitsha, Anambra state over alleged stealing, possession of weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa and other crimes.

Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement said the suspects were arrested during series of raids carried out at criminal hideouts, flashpoints and other blackspots at Upper Iweka, Owerri road and Head bridge Onitsha.

He said the suspects would be profiled and charged if found wanting while those found innocent would be released unconditionally.

He said, “In furtherance to our avowed commitment towards steming the tide of crime in the State especially during these periods of ember months, Police operatives attached to Anambra State Police Command led by the Area Commander Onitsha ACP John Obuagbaka carried out series of raids at Criminal hideouts, flashpoints and other blackspots at Upper Iweka, Owerri road and Head bridge Onitsha.

“The Police arrested 40 suspects for various offences ranging from alleged stealing and being in possession of weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa.

“The Command will continue to pursue the hoodlums before during and after the Christmas until all the criminal elements refrain from criminal activities or relocate from the State.”
