Police officer arrested for shooting motorist at checkpoint

A policeman attached to the Ogun State Police Command has been arrested for shooting a motorist, identified only as Akorede,

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday when the victim was driving and some policemen in Oru, in the Ijebu Ode area of the state, flagged him down.

According to the report, the officers were searching his vehicle when one of them suddenly brought out his gun and shot Akorede in the leg.

A witness, Dammy, who took to his Twitter handle @eyebee247, claimed that Akorede did nothing to the officers to warrant his being shot at.

“Police brutality is still ongoing. This happened during a stop and search in Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode, yesterday, 13th October, 2021. The victim, Akorede, was stopped and suddenly this police officer brought out his gun and shot him without provocation,” Dammy tweeted.

Dammy attached a video clip to the post showing the victim writhing in pain while sitting in a red car, as blood dripped from his leg.
