Double murders of a Mother and son were reported on September 7, 2021 at Behala, Panarshee area of Kolkata, West Bengal.
According to Kolkata Police, bodies of a Mother and son – Sushmita Mandal (45) and Tamojit Mandal (13) were found lying in a pool of blood in their flat at Parnarshee, Behala. And the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
Behala is a locality of South West Kolkata, in the Indian state of West Bengal.
The Daily Vendor Newspaper learnt that the decapitated bodies were recovered from their locked house. And that Police are already investigating the incident and looking for answers to multiple questions.
It was also learnt from sources that six people are currently being detained and questioned. The husband of the deceased lady is also being detained by the police.
The door was locked by yale digital door lock. Yale digital door lock is a smart digital locks used in homes or offices. The owner of the house, a Bank worker Tapan Mandal was not getting any response from his wife and son even after repeatedly ringing the doorbell. With the help of neighbors, he broke the lock of the door around 9.15 pm on Monday night and found the decapitated bodies of his wife Sushmita Mandal (45) and his son Tamojit Mandal (13) lying in the bedroom bed.
The entire room, bed is floating in blood and the inside of the house was totally ransacked.
The Mandal family living on the third floor of the building in Behala, Kolkata. Every evening, one home teacher used to come to teach the boy and on Monday evening, he came to teach also according to sources.
On Monday evening, the same home teacher came to teach the student Tamojit at home. It is however unclear at what time the teacher left the house and now police is in search for him. His mobile phone is also not reachable.
Detectives are searching for the suspect, our sources reveal, it was also learnt that Tamojit had also joined the online class at that time. But the smartphone from which he was clubbing has not been found yet.
An investigation is underway into whether the murder was due to robbery. The police are not ruling out the possibility that the murder may have been committed for some old revenge. However, an attempt is being made to find out whether anyone other than the tutor had entered the house. Detectives went to the spot at night. Police dogs were also brought down.
Homeowner Mr. Tapan and the neighbors are also being questioned. Tapan Mandal claimed that he came back from the office and broke the lock and recovered the decapitated bodies of his wife and son. It is learned that six people are currently being detained and questioned by the Kolkata Police. However, they are not members of the Mandal family. According to police sources, no sign of forced entry was found. It is also believed that the house may have been looted to confuse the police.
