Police foil robbery attack in Anambra community, arrest 3

Three robbery suspects have been arrested for allegedly snatching a Tricycle from the owner in Agu-Awka, Anambra State.

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga who confirmed the arrest in a statement, said the suspects were intercepted Saturday nightfollowing tip off.

He listed the names of the suspects as  Ebuka Madu (22) of Umunze, Chinedu Godwin (23) from Enugu State, and Udegbunam Chikezie (18) of Neni. 

He added that one Baretta Pistol, one locally made Chief Revolver Pistol, twelve rounds of life, one expended ammunition as well as the tricycle were recovered from the suspects.

He said, “Police at Neni in Anaocha LGA of Anambra State have intercepted an armed robbery gang that snatched a Tricycle from the owner in Agu-Awka on 15/7/2023 (Saturday night).

“The gang was smashed following information received from the Police in Awka that the gang was fleeing towards Anaocha LGA. 

“The Police who were on patrol with the local vigilante laid an ambush for the robbers and got them apprehended. 

“One Baretta Pistol and one locally made Chief Revolver Pistol, twelve rounds of life, and one expended ammunition were recovered from the three-man gang. The Tricycle has also been recovered. 

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye has assured members of the Public and Ndi Anambra that the confidence reposed in the Command for the maintenance of law and order and pursuit of justice shall not be taken for granted. 

“He has directed that the suspects be arraigned in court after a diligent investigation.”
