Police dislodge robbery syndicate terrorising Anambra community, recover offensive weapons

Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested in Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The suspects, Ocha Chinonso, 23, and Chidubem Emmanuel, 22 reportedly terrorising residents of the area with dangerous weapons were nabbed at Abagana end of the area.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed said the suspects were arrested in conjunction with local vigilante group from Umudunu village.

He said, “On the 31/10/2020 at about 8:32am, there was a distress call that suspected robbers armed with dangerous weapons were operating at Abagana end of Nimo junction in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State.

“Following the distress call, Police operatives attached to Abagana division in conjunction with local vigilante group from umudunu village quickly responded and rushed to the scene.

“As a result, two suspects, Ocha Chinonso ‘ m’, Aged 23 years of Mgbuke Village, Umunachi and Chidubem Emmanuel ‘m’ Aged 22years of Umusiome Nkpor were arrested.

“Meanwhile, exhibits recovered in their possesions includes two pump action gun,one short double barrel gun,three catriges and one Keke tricycle.

“Case under investigation after which suspects would be charge to court for prosecution.”
