Police arrest suspected murderers in Anambra

Two persons have been arrested over the alleged murder of one Azuibuike Ekwegbalu inside his resident at the Commissioners quarters Awka, Anambra state.

The suspects, Osita John, 21, of Ifite ogwari in Ayamelum LGA of Anambra State and Achewa Musa, 27 of Abinsel of Guma LGA of Benue State

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed said the suspects confessed to have scaled into the deceased house and stabbed him on his lower abdomen before carting away two of his handsets.

He said, “It would be recalled that on the 9/8/2020 at about 1:30am, there was a report of alleged murder of one Azuibuike Ekwegbalu ‘m’ aged 43 years,native of Ogbunike in Oyi LGA of Anambra State inside his resident at the Commissioners quarters Awka.

“Following the incident, Police detectives swung into action and after intensive investigation arrested two principal suspects as follows,

(i). Osita John ‘m’ aged 21years of Ifite ogwari in Ayamelum LGA of Anambra State but reside at Agu Awka.

(ii)Achewa Musa ‘m’ aged 27years of Abinsel of Guma LGA of Benue State but reside in Amansea Garke.

“The suspects who were arrested after painstaking monitoring voluntarily confessed to have scaled into the deceased house and stabbed him on his lower abdomen before carting away two of his handsets.

“Meanwhile, exhibits recovered from the suspects includes the two android phones belonging to the victim and one knife allegedly used in perpetrating the heinous act.

“Following establishment of prima facie case against the suspects, they were today Tuesday 10/11/2020, charged to Court and subsequently remanded.

“The Commissioner of Police, John Abang, once again reiterates that there is no hiding place for criminals in Anambra State and that the Command under his watch will continue to fish out and deal decisively with criminal elements in accordance with the law until they repent or relocate from the State.”
