“Pastor” who converted his house to robbers den arrested with 8 members in Enugu

Enugu State Police Command has arrested nine suspects over conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearm, cultism and receiving of stolen property.

Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe who stated this in a statement, said one of the suspects, Odoh Nnaemeka made his residence the gang’s criminal hideout and venue for planning their criminal operations.

He said a locally-made pistol with two live cartridges, seven motorcycles of different makes and several parts of motorcycles were recovered from them.

He listed the names of the suspects to include: Victor Obute (a.k.a. “Choiyi”) aged 21 of the State’s Igbo-Etiti L.G.A; Ebuka Omene (a.k.a. “OPEC”) aged 21 of Edemani Nsukka; Chekwube Alumona (a.k.a “Electric”) aged 22 of No. 1B Aludele Street, Nsukka.

“Others are Chibuike Onoja (a.k.a. “Ginger”) aged 24 of Enugu-Ezike; and Odoh Nnaemeka (a.k.a “Pastor”) aged 24 of Enugu-Ezike, Sunday Eze (a.k.a. “Badoo”) aged 18 of Enugu-Ezike; Chijioke Anigbogu aged 21 of Nsukka Town; Okpe Onyebuchi aged 22 and Christian Eze aged 40 both of Amalla Village in Udenu L.G.A of the State.

According to Ndukwe, Victor Obute and Ebuka Omene were arrested on 07/08/2020 by Operatives of the Command attached to Udenu Area Command while on Stop/Search duty at Inyi, along Enugu/Makurdi Expressway and recovered one (1) locally-made pistol with two (2) live cartridges from them.

“They were subsequently transferred to the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation, which resulted in the arrest of Chekwube Alumona, Chibuike Onoja, Odoh Nnaemeka and Sunday Eze in Enugu-Ezike community of the State on 16th August, 2020 at about 0330hrs.

“Preliminary investigation shows that the suspects confessed to being members of Vikings Confraternity and a notorious armed robbery gang operating within Igbo-Etiti/Nsukka axis of the State.

“It further reveals that Odoh Nnaemeka made his residence the gang’s criminal hideout and venue for planning their criminal operations, while Chijioke Anigbogu, Okpe Onyebuchi and Christian Eze were recipients of the robbed motorcycles and other criminal proceeds of the gang.

“Breakdown of items recovered from them include: one (1) locally-made pistol with two (2) live cartridges; one (1) Denstar motorcycle without registration number; one (1) Topstar motorcycle without registration number; five (5) Ladies’ motorcycles all without registration number; and
several parts of Ladies’ motorcycles.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman commended the Operatives for the breakthrough, charging Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical/Operational Departments and the entire Operatives of the Command to redouble their efforts at preventing and/or detecting acts of crimes and criminality in the State.

“He further entreats residents of the State to remain law-abiding, vigilant and continue to support the Command by promptly reporting suspected criminals and acts of criminality to the nearest Police Station or by calling the following hotlines: 08032003702, 08086671202, 08075390883 or 08098880172.”
