Panic as Kano returnee tests positive for COVID 19 in Imo

The Imo State government has confirmed another new case of COVID 19 in the state.

The Imo state Commissioner for Health, Dr Mrs, Damaris Osunkwo who revealed this to THE DAILY VENDOR on Monday in Owerri while giving update on the COVID 19 pandemic in the State said there is a newly confirmed case, a fourty-three (43) years old man, from Ehume Obowo, who was said to have just returned from Kano state.

She said, so far, the state has recorded 3 confirmed cases of COVID 19. She however said they are all doing well at the isolation and treatment center.

Osunkwo said contacts from him have been listed and are being followed up. Adding that, samples have been taken from people considered highly exposed to him and already sent to the laboratory.

The state Government according to her, is going ahead to investigate reports and rumors of returnees and other suspected cases.

The commissioner therefore advised the public to keep being safe by adhering to earlier advisories of steady hand washing with soap and running water. Use hand sanitizers frequently, maintain social distance of 1 to 2 meters and avoid crowding.

Continue to report all suspected cases and adhere to remain at home instruction. Observe respiratory etiquette and wear your face masks always. 

She reassured that, the state Government is doing everything possible to ensure the safety of all lmolites, stressing that there is no need for panic, and they should desist from spreading of false rumors.
