LANDIKOTAL: Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) held a joint meeting with all stakeholders and discussed various issues focused on regional business connectivity via Torkham and other border points.
Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerace and Industries vice president Ziaul haq Sarhadi told The News on Thursday that the meeting was also attended by businesswomen, TDAP officials and PAJCCI senior management.
Zia Sarhadi informed the forum about on-going developments in the area of land trade with Afghanistan especially the role which government could play in facilitation and improvement the traders add transporters.
Sarhadi said women in Pakistan and Afghanistan have the potential to help boost up small and medium businesses and encourage women to play their role in uplift of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He apprised that PAJCCI and its Chairman, Zubair Motiwala and Co-Chairman, Khan Jan Alokozai had put their good offices to raise the voice of business community with governments to the level of respective premiers.
President Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nighat Shahid apprised the forum about her recent visit to Azerbaijan.She highlighted the huge business potential in bilateral trade with Azeraaijan.
She said that business with Central Asian Republics states had high yield potential for Pakistani products however transportation cost was too high due to transit barriers between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Durreshawar appreciated the relentless efforts of businesswomen despite trade barriers and testing times.
Secretary General PAJCCI, Faiza said they focused on continuous engagement of business women and invitated the Afghan businesswomen to participate in upcoming Focus Group discussion. She said also invited members of Afghan women chamber of commerce and industry to encourage Afghan women to come forward for business on both sides of the border.
She also apprised that TDAP has agreed to organize expos for Pak-Afghan business community and invite women members from both sides to encourage equal participation of women led businesses.
PAJCCI was committed to encourage and activate women business community of the two countries which was a vital to uplift the economy and to generate respectful employment for the women, She added.
