Onitsha Medicine dealers donate 3 vehicles to Police

Traders at the Medicine Dealers International market, popularly called Ogbogwu, Bridge head, Onitsha, Anambra state have donated three operational vehicles and office furniture to the newly created Zone 13, Ukpo, Local Government Area of the state.

Chairman of the Market, Chief Donatus Ajamma said the gesture was to enable the officers and men in their task of policing the area.

He commended the security consciousness of the state government under Governor Willie Obiano, saying the vehicles were to strengthen the security operations of the zone.

“The traders have come to realise the importance of security to the ease of doing business, hence their resolve to contribute their quota towards the overall development of the state,” he said.

While taking delivery of the vehicles, Assistant Inspector General of Police In Charge of Zone 13, Ukpo, Mr Danmallam Mohammed reassured the commitment of the Nigeria Police to continue to do everything within the ambit of the law to ensure that lives and property of people in Anambra and Enugu states were protected

He maintained that security of lives and property was every bodies’ business.

He added, “This explains why traders at the medicine dealers International market, popularly called Ogbogwu, Bridge head, Onitsha decided to contribute their own social responsibility by donating three operational vehicles to the newly created Zone 13 to enable the officers and men in their task of policing the area.

“We reassure you of our commitment towards ensuring that those in Enugu and Anambra states continue to have a conducive crime free society which in turn guarantees the ease of doing business in the area.”

The AIG appreciated the traders for the donation, assuring them that the vehicles would go a long way in assisting the Police in responding to security situations across the area.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Uchenna Okafor noted that business can only thrive where there was security, hence the resolve of the State government to provide a conducive environment for residents.

He commended the traders for their kind gesture towards the realisation of the state government ideology which remained providing adequate security through effective policing.

On his part, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Mr Echeng Echeng said the Zone would continue to partner the public in its resolve to provide security to the people and thanked the traders for their understanding.
