Dean, Faculty of Clinical Medicine, Prof. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ojiyi has been elected as the third substantive Executive Provost of the College of Medicine, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Awka Campus, Anambra State.
Ojiyi broke the records by becoming the first Executive Officer in the annals of the College of Medicine, now College of Medicine and Health Sciences to cart a 100% support from all lectures of the College.
The Chairman, Medical and Dental Consultant Association of Nigeria (MDCAN)-COOUTH branch, Dr Chukwudi Okani, who spoke to newsmen on behalf of the new Provost said, Prof. Ojiyi, won the election as the Provost of the College of Medicine and would be the third Executive Provost to steer the ship of the College which now harbours three Faculties for the next 4 years.
According to Okani, he won the election that took place, yesterday at the Pathology Auditorium, COOUTH, Amaku-Awka, by an unprecedented 100%
votes of 36/36. All the 36 fulltime lecturers who turned out in time voted for this quintessential deity and academic colossus.
By this election, Prof. Ojiyi, an astute Professor and Consultant Oby/ Gyn, as a Permanent Member of our University Senate, has now secured another niche as a Member of our University Management, a Member of the University Council, a Member of our University Teaching Hospital Management Board and the General Overseer of three Faculties in our College: Clinical Medicine, Basic Medicine and Health Sciences, he announced.
Prof. Ojiyi, succeeded Professor Walter Nwafia, whose tenure expired in August 2020.
