Ohanaeze Berates Alaigbo Foundation Over Attack On Gov Umahi

The Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide OYC at the weekend described the recent media attacks on against Ebonyi State Governor Chief David Umahi by the spokesperson of Alaigbo Development Foundation Chief Abia Onyike as calculated attempt to incite and instigate Ebonyi people against the Governor.

Ohanaeze Youth Council stated that those making the allegations of illegal disposal of Ebonyi State Property in Lagos by the present administration as political jobbers, desparadoes and men of questionable character.

A statement signed by the President General of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and the Secretary General Mazi Okwu Nnabuike and made available to newsmen described the rumor as a ruse and calculated attempt to resort to mere rumours and hear’say to incite and instigate Ebonyains against the Governor.

The Igbo Youths group stated that they have carried out thorough checks and investigations on the alleged sale of Ebonyi State Properties in Lagos, Abuja, Abia and other states, and found that there’s no evidence of any illegal sale of any property anywhere.

The group urged critics to always cross checks their facts before attacking those who overseas the Affairs of igbos adding that Governor Dave Umahi is innocent of such allegations and has done anything wrong to be castigated in the media by political jobbers.

“OYC had watched with keen interests the activities of Alaigbo Development Foundation, recently the leader of the group, openly resigned from the Southeast Security Committee in protest against the decision of Southeast Governors to embrace community policing”.

“His resignation was aimed at making caricatures of the Governors as being weak leaders, and after a fortnight, the spokesman of the group, raised false alarm over alleged sale of Ebonyi State Properties”.

“We sue for peace and urge Alaigbo Development Foundation to refrain from attention seeking and stop unnecessary confrontations with the Southeast Governors, or there might be severe sanctions against the Leadership of the group in the future, if they remain unrepentant”.

“Igbo Youths therefore urge Ebonyi State Governor Chief David Umahi Umahi to ignore the verbal attack of Chief Abia Onyuike and forgive him. It is our believe that soon he will understand later that your administration means well to all good people of Ebonyi State at home and in diaspora”.

Similarly, a group under the eugis of Ebonyi Transperency group has given the Former Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information, Chief Abia Onyike to prove his claims on the sale of Ebonyi properties or face legal action.

The group in a statement signed the National Coordinator, Prince Chukwu Onwe and made available to Leadership expressed the regret that since the political future of Chief Onyike crashed in 2019, he has been making unfounded allegation against the present administration.

He who alleges must prove and we as a non partisan group challenge Chief Onyike to prove his allegations against the state, else we would institute a legal action against him. It is high time frustrated politicians desist from insulting leaders and making frivolous allegations.

“We are giving him 48 hours to respond and prove his allegations. Fake news is now a crime in the country and it’s high time, people who propagate fake news are prosecuted to serve as warning to others”.
