Obiano/Arthur Eze rift: Anambra elders set up 13-man peace c’ttee

A 13-Man Peace Committee has been constituted to resolve the lingering crises between Anambra state Governor, Willie Obiano and an oil mogul, Engr. Arthur Eze.

The committee inaugurated by the League of Eminent Citizens of the State under the aegis of “The Anambra State Elders and Stakeholders Forum” is also to resolve the problem between the governor and the 13 suspended Traditional Rulers.

The Forum pioneered and founded by the first civilian Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife in a recent crucial meeting at Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of the State, described the rift between Obiano of the oil mogul as avoidable distraction capable of hitting-up the polity in the State and jeopardizing Igbo presidency project.

Addressing reporters after its meeting, National President of the forum and former Justice of the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Anthony I. Iguh (CON) stated that the stakeholders would not keep quiet while eminent sons of the State engaged themselves in war of words and media battle which rub-off on the reputation and prestige of Anambra State.

The Peace Committee with retired Chief Justice of Anambra State, Hon. Justice G.U. Ononiba as Chairman and former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Prof. Pita Ejiofor as Secretary was mandated to identify the immediate and remote causes of the misunderstanding and cold war between His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State and Engr. Prince Arthur Eze on one hand and His Excellency, Dr. Chris Ngige, former Governor of Anambra State on the other hand.

The Committee, with 30 days deadline, has members Hon. Justice G.U Ononiba, former Chief Judge of Anambra as Chairman; former Vice Chancellor; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka as Secretary with Hon. Justice Paul Obidigwe, former Chief Judge of Anambra State and Hon. Justice (Prof.) P.N.C. Umeadi, former Chief Judge of Anambra State.
