The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has  deployed its officers to ensure total enforcement of  the state’s government directive for a total lock down of all forms of activities and movements within the state to avert the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

This was according to a press statement by the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, in Anambra State ASC Okadigbo Edwin who informed the public that the command has commenced immediate and extreme enforcement of the Lock Down Order as part of measures to curtail the spread of the Virus in the State.

The State Commandant, Comdt David Bille, FCIA said, “the Anambra State NSCDC has ordered the immediate deployment of Officers and Men to all entry and exit points of the state for the  enforcement of the orders. All Area Commanders, DOs and Heads of other  Command’s Operational Units have also been directed to deploy  personnel in their respective area of jurisdiction as the command is poised to enforcing this order”.

The Commandant however noted that only those on essential services will be allowed to move around, but must be duly designated with a valid card

He added that “Operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad are strategically positioned in various locations to promptly respond to distress calls. Patrol teams have been deployed to various communities and streets and their presence intensified around markets and stores to prevent hoodlums from stealing and looting”.

THE DAILY VENDOR correspondent who visited some of the entry points to the state noted that vehicles are denied entry into the state, a development that has caused a massive gridlock.
