The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has restated its resolve to redouble its commitment and sacrifice towards drastical reduction of crime and criminality in the state.
The State Commandant, Everestus Chimezie Obiyo who gave the assurance in a press conference, also assured of increased intelligence gathering and training of his men especially in the area of civility and respect of human dignity.
He said the command addressed a total of 250 cases ranging from malicious damage, assault, threat to life, vandalization of government critical national assets and Infrastructure, illegal transportation and dealings on petroleum products, obtaining by false pretence, buying of stolen items, among others.
He hinted that 100 of such cases were resolved through alternative dispute resolution mechanism; 110 of them still under investigation, while the rest were for prosecution at the court of competent jurisdiction.
According to Obiyo, the Command has about 7 cases in court currently being prosecuted.
He said, “The command has witnessed positive impact of our grass root nature in dealing with the populace through the collection of evidence based intelligence gathering and sustenance of our synergy with sister security agencies which enhanced the efficient execution of our operational strategies in the period under review.
“We have resolved to redouble our unalloyed commitment and sacrifice in this new year 2022 while we continue to do more within our constitutional mandate to drastically reduce crime and criminality in the state.
“We assure members of the public of our preparedness to continue in our efforts to discharging our duty successfully, and maintain the current tempo of peace in the state.
“The Command will not rest in its oars or revel in its accomplishments so far, rather this achievements will galvanized our tempo and posture audacity to clampdown heavily in a consistent and sustained manner on criminal practitioners until they are roundly subjugated and their criminal industry completely liquidated in Anambra State.”
The NSCDC boss appreciated the support and guides of the Commandant General, Dr. Abubakar Audi as well as foresight and doggedness of the State Governor, Dr. Willie Obiano who he said had harmonized all security agencies in the state into working together with a common goal.
