People of Ezumeri Oraifite in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State have expressed their readiness to produce the next traditional ruler of Oraifite.
They said no amount of intimidation or power play would stop them from placing the real Igwe on ground.
Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, a community leader, Nze Charles Muoma (Chinyelugo Oraifite) regretted that past efforts by the people of Ezumeri to produce the Man for the Crown were stalled by some people in the corridors of power.
He however said Oraifite people were ready to support the Ezumeri quarters to produce the Real Igwe that would carry everybody along in the task of transforming Oraifite community.
He noted that all machineries had been put in place to give Oraifite a duly elected Igwe as prescribed the Oraifite Constitution.
He said, “Nobody can suppress the collective will of the people. You can not manipulate the people all the time. There must be freedom of Expression & freedom of movement in Oraifite.
“Ndi Oraifite, our destiny is in our hands. Time has come to say No to all forms of impositions. We need development. We need advancement. Oraifite stakeholders should come together for a common cause.
He added, “Unfortunately all those who benefited from the present Igweship Leadership in Oraifite are fighting against the restoration of order, sanity, peace & tranquility of Oraifite community.
“But nobody is above the law. The Court has restored hope, peace & unity of Oraifite people by stopping Dr. Daniel Udoji from parading as Igwe Oraifite.
“The Oraifite people are now ready to support the Ezumeri quarters to produce the Real Igwe that Wil carry everybody along in the task of transforming Oraifite community.
“It is regrettable that efforts made in the recent past by the people of Ezumeri to produce the Man for the Crown were stalled by some people in the corridors of power.
“But the people remain resolute and prayerful. For it is their turn to produce the Igwe. All machineries are now in motion to give Oraifite an duley elected Igwe as prescribed the Oraifite Constitution.
“Ndi Anambra are all waiting for people of Ezumeri Oraifite to produce the Next Igwe Oraifite. Whoever that is there now, Dr Daniel Udoji came in thru the back door.
The High Court has also exited him, giving way for a Real Igwe to emerge at Oraifite.
“Oraifite improvement Union OIU, has become highly politicised that many people have lost confidence in it’s ability to work for the peace, unity and oneness of Oraifite people.
Describing Ezumeri Oraifite 2023 Mass Return as the best thing that had ever happened in Oraifite, Muoma said the occasion was an opportunity to recognise and appreciate illustrious sons who worked for peace and progress of Ezumeri and Oraifite community.
“The people spoke with one voice that they are ready to present a Brand New Igwe to the people of Oraifite,” he stressed.
