Nigerians In Indonesia: Chidoka Writes Foreign Affairs Minister, Demands Urgent Intervention

Following the crisis witnessed between Nigerians resident in Indonesia and the Embassy of Nigeria in the foreign country, former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, has written a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, concerning the development.

In the letter sent to the Honourable Minister and shared by Chidoka, the ex-minister disclosed that currently, there is a breakdown of trust between Nigerian citizens living in Indonesia and the country’s embassy in the foreign land.

Chidoka noted that many stranded Nigerians in Indonesia require prompt government intervention in evacuating them back to Nigeria, also pointing out the need to improve on diplomatic relations with the Indonesian authorities.

He further made recommendations, including sending envoy to engage and rebuild trust between Nigerians resident in Indonesia and the authorities of both countries.

Recall the DAILY VENDOR reported earlier in the month, that Chidoka, in an online television programme, ‘Citizens Forum’, hosted by Joi John, interacted with Nigerians in Indonesia, upon their request for his intervention, following distrust between them and the Nigerian Embassy in Indonesia, leading to a violent protest and vandalization of properties at the Nigerian Consulate in Jakarta.

During the interaction, Chidoka had promised to intervene through engaging the Nigerian and Indonesian governments.
